Sometimes we all just need a little encouragement to press on in the challenges, trials, and battles we find ourselves in. And sometimes we need to be reminded that in Christ we are capable of achieving far more at home, at work, and in ministry than we might be experiencing right now.
That’s why I love the movie Facing The Giants. It’s all about experiencing what happens when we get to the end of ourselves, fully submit to Christ, and let God take over. And one of my favorite scenes is the classic “Death Crawl” – where Grant Taylor redefines possible for his players by pushing one of them to his absolute limit.
Here are some of the best Coach Taylor quotes from the scene, which are especially applicable to husbands and fathers seeking God’s wisdom for how to lead their families:
“You are the most influential player on this team. If you walk around defeated so will they.”
“Don’t tell me you can’t give me more than what I’ve been seeing.”
“God’s gifted you with the ability of leadership…don’t waste it!”
If you’ve been struggling – in your walk with Christ, in your marriage or parenting, in your work, within your church community, or in ministry – watch this clip and remember that if God is truly in control of your life and you are fully surrendered to Him, absolutely anything is possible!
